Welcome from the Headteacher

I hope you find this website helpful either as an aid when expressing a school preference for your child or during the time your child is a pupil in St Giles School. I was previously Headteacher of St Giles Junior School for seventeen years and I am delighted to be appointed as Headteacher of this newly formed Primary School.

As a Church Primary School I believe that there are distinct advantages over separate
Infant and Junior Schools. Firstly the school is managed by the same Headteacher and Governing Body throughout the Primary phase and this enables everyone to build the same caring ethos without perhaps a distinctive change at the end of the Infant phase. Secondly you and your child will be able to establish a close relationship with the Headteacher, Management Team and all staff over a seven year period. Thus being able to foster a meaningful partnership between home and school. Thirdly teachers in both Infant and Junior phases can work together to establish a curriculum that is continuous with your child moving from year group to year group in a planned manner. Fourthly your child will only have to transfer to a new school at the end of the Junior phase (age 11).

I believe that a school should create an atmosphere in which all can achieve their full potential. The climate and ethos of the school is one that is conducive to learning.

I extend an open invitation to you and your child/children to view the school at any convenient opportunity.
